In the summer of 2005 we were approached by a client who wished to built a small 2/3 bedroom starter home in garden ground of his parents home. After a long process, Planning Permission and Building Warrant were granted and the process to build a small starter home began.
The floor level of the new house was to match floor levels of the adjoining property and therefore required a substantial underbuilding to be built but the end result means that nothing obscures the views from the property towards the Moray Firth. A feature window was formed within the stairwell of the property to flood the internal hallways with light on both storey levels. The need for light bedrooms and views were also the reasoning behind the Velux window fenustration on the front elevation.
